Support for Saratoga-Weather.org PHP scripts
First, a reiteration of the note appearing at the top of each page of scripts on the website is in order.

Since weather and website programming is a hobby for me, please don't expect the level of support as you might for a commercial product -- there is no call center or support staff to assist you for these scripts/templates -- I will endeavor to assist with problems where my time is available, and you can do a lot of self-help to fix issues with your personal weather website. Please note that if you have modified the script(s) outside of the specified configuration parameters, you will likely be on-your-own to diagnose problems.
The scripts and templates provided on this website will likely run (after configuration) on your personal weather website. Sometimes, after running successfully for a while, a script may stop functioning.. Scripts that gather information from external websites for forecasts, warnings and other information are likely to break when the source website for the data has changed location or format.
The following should be used for restoring function to configured but otherwise unmodified scripts:
- Check to see if the script is running in the example section of the individual script page on this site.
if it is, then just update your copy with the latest release of the script.
- V3 AJAX/PHP template users can use the updates page to get all updates needed since the last time they installed (or checked).
- Sites using the individual script can obtain the updated script from the individual script page using the menu above.
- If the script example on this site is also broken, then Contact me with a note advising of the broken script. Be sure to include the URL to the example of the broken script in your message.
Frequently Asked Questions (and Answers)
Q: How are script update notifications available?
A: There are four major methods to find/hear about script updates:
- Subscribe to update announcements on the saratogaWXPHP Twitter feed.
- Subscribe to update notifications via RSS through the Script Update RSS feed.
- For V3 AJAX/PHP Template users, the Updates Page will create a customized update package based on the date you last installed or updated your template set.
- Search Topics/posts (or post questions) about script issues on weather enthusiast forums.
WXforum.net and Weather-Watch.com are my daily-visit sites. The Cumulus and Meteohub forums are visited less frequently.
Using the appropriate forum is a great way to get help from fellow weather enthusiasts who have installed/used the scripts.
Q: Will you create/maintain my website for me?
A: Most likely, no. Since I am retired and this is a hobby, I'm not looking for 'business'. I hope you will find the installation instructions (and the comments within the scripts themselves) enough to have you successfully create and maintain your own website. Many folks have commented that they had used the scripts as examples and started programming their own scripts as a result. That's what I hope you can do also.
Q: Still missing the script help you need?
Found a programming error in the scripts?
Want to register your website to be listed with websites using the templates?
Want to express your gratitude? (although, the Donate button above is a great way to express your gratitude :)
A: Then please contact me and for problems, I'll try to help on a as-time-available basis.
